On the point-of-sale system, the county Board of Bids and Contracts is recommending that the commission accept a bid from Micros Systems for $264,521, plus $13,272 for the first two years of maintenance and support.

A bid from Micros’ competitor, Radiant Systems, was slightly lower at $256,966 plus $11,546 for maintenance and support.

But county purchasing director Iris Baker said differences in the warranties led the board to recommend Micros.

Micros offered a four-year warranty including on-site repairs, while Radiant’s warranty would run only one year, equipment would have to be shipped out of state for repair, and labor costs would be extra, Baker said.
